Jessica and Gabe: The Wedding

There are some couples I meet that I just fall in love with.  Jess and Gabe are one of those couples for me.  Together they exude a tenderness and calm undercut with an incredibly strong love for each other and those dear to them.

Together they hold each other up and truly allow each to be their best.

If the quantity of rain that falls on a wedding day has any implication of just how much luck rain on your wedding day is.  Jess and Gabe might just take the prize.  Shortly after Gabe slid down a slide to greet Jess for their first look the skies released the rain.  Lots of it.  And they took it in stride.  We huddled under a bridge by the creek enjoying the experience.  There was no way we were going anywhere in the weather and they willingly embraced this temporary change of schedule.  We inched ever further under the bridge, luckily a very large bridge, as the rain came ever closer and harder.  And when it finally let up to a slight sprinkle Eric was there with garbage bags to clothe Jess.

Sadly I haven’t yet mastered focusing on the words of a ceremony and often am simply anticipating actions and hoping I don’t trip or simply loose my balance as I attempt to squat with my belly.  But somehow I was able to actually be present in Jessica and Gabe’s ceremony.  To enjoy the moments as the minister started the ceremony with an ethereal voice.  The playful poem, “I like you” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg, read by the friends responsible for ensuring that Gabe and Jess met.  It ends thus:

I would go on choosing you

And you would go on choosing me

Over and over again

That’s how it would happen every time

I don’t know why

I guess I don’t know why I really like you

Why do I like you

I guess I just like you

I guess I just like you because I like you.

Congratulations Gabe and Jess!  We wish you infinite happiness in marriage for which your wedding was a beautiful beginning.
