Marj Merges Beautiful. Honest. You. {and me}

Oh no…

It’s started. I’ve reawakened my love of film and I’m not sure I’ll be able to put the genie back in the bottle.

It started when I took my decidedly very basic Zenza Bronica SQ-B on our Holiday trip. Scratch that it started when I blindly went to see Jonathan Canlas speak and realized not all professional wedding photographers shoot digital. Holy sh*t why didn’t anyone tell me this before? I mean really WHY?

So now I’m lusting after Contax 645 cameras on the internet. Wondering how I could justify going to a Film Is Not Dead Workshop. Wondering what it would really look like if I were to photograph a wedding using film. And just generally dreaming.

This is not to say I don’t have nagging questions. Huge ones. Mainly along these lines. Am I crazy? Would this really work? Is it that much better? Will anyone actually hire me if I shoot weddings with film?

Thanks, Jonathan… ┬áIf I hadn’t seen you talk I might not have dug all that expired 120 film out of my fridge to come north with us to Yellowstone and the Tetons. I’d be still going along on my merry digital way. But because of you I reawakened something in myself. A deep love of film I’ve had for seventeen years but had of late forgotten. I think I’m grateful but I’m not sure yet.
