Marj Merges Beautiful. Honest. You. {and me}

Daddy Jungle Gym

Meet Mindy, Cody, Liam, and Roma.  Mindy and I used to work together.  Technically I replaced her replacement but then she came back and now she’s still working there, and I well, I’m not.  But I do have a cheering section from my old work doing what they can to help me succeed.  And I really do appreciate it.  It’s tough starting out in this business and I can use all the help and cheering I can get.

It’s tough coming up with goals.  Goals beyond shoot as much as I can.  Goals beyond get my photos (and myself) in front of as many people as I possibly can.  Those might be more the means to the end.  The actions I can control and do in order to achieve the goals I want but can’t directly make happen.  Goals like booking my first wedding for 2012.  I’ll be jumping up and down when that happens.  For now, I’m doing everything I can think of to help myself reach that goal.  Which includes this shoot.

Photographing young children is a challenge in many ways.  For one, they move fast.  They’re unpredictable.  They have their own agenda which may just happen to work for photos (or may not).  And yet family shoots are some of my favorite.  I love how young children totally take the static out of a shoot.  How they relax everyone.  How they invite me into their world and to witness their curiosity.  How they see me more as a person than a camera.

Thank you, Mindy and Cody for allowing me to photograph your family.  And for enduring endless prodding and jumping by your children.  And Liam and Roma for being yourselves and allowing me into your world.
