Marj Merges Beautiful. Honest. You. {and me}

Month III – The End

Really, the beginning.

This is it.  I am on my own.  I’ve done as much as I could these last three months as an intern with and now I’m just me, former intern.  No more karate kid intern training.  Just me.  Me with my camera, my cats, and my husband.  Well, that’s being a little melodramatic but I think you get my gist.

Even if I haven’t shot a ton formally as a intern I have benefitted from being part of the collective group of interns (and I think having fewer shoots than we want is part of Mark’s Jedi mind tricks, he’s tricking us into finding shoots outside of him).  It’s because of two other interns that I’ve shot weddings (wedding 1 and wedding 2).  It’s because of last season’s interns that I shot a Bridal Show.  And it’s because of other current and former interns that I had much to shoot at all (three of the five couples in my couples and engagement portfolio are interns).  And it’s because of +Raven that I’ve done a Boudoir shoot.  If you take out all the shoots related to the other interns or you’re left with shoots that happened thanks to my good friend who is the bride in my July wedding (see family shoot 1, 2, and 3).  I am so grateful to all of them: Mark, Leah, current, former, future interns, and Amy.

So now that I’m headed back to Colorado I’m going to be on my own without the support network (and work generating network) of  I’m pretty sure I can do it.  I’ll just have to keep repeating to myself over and over that I can indeed do it.  And I’ll have to really use my own advice to make my own work.  And maybe do a little telepathy too.

As of May 22nd I’ll be back in Colorado and I’ll be photographing weddings, engagements, families, couples, events, whatever I can and want on my home turf.

Ready.  Set.  Go.
